Alpaca Experience and Educational Tour's
Alpaca Experience:
Adults
12 years and up.
Spross Hollow exclusive tours for adventure and education have always been a fun and exciting way to experience and learn about Alpaca farming and the fiber industry. Unlike a petting zoo we are a working livestock ranch that breeds for Alpaca excellence. Harvesting fleece from these magical creatures each year allow us to produce amazing clothing items as well as creative and unique household and outdoor solutions. If you are into knitting or spinning, we have skeins of the softest yarn you will every work with on site. Show and Elite fiber animals are our focus with a passion of assisting new Alpaca owners on their journey.
As you prepare for your visit:We are excited for you to come visit our ranch, you will not want to forget your camera to capture those precious faces and moments. You will be walking on dirt and in the Alpaca's paddocks, so we recommend that you wear closed toes shoes, not flip flops, sandals or high heels. Part of the tour will take place in the barn but dress appropriate for the temperature.
Upon Arrival:
Please note that our speed limit down the driveway is 10mph, park in the parking spaces across from the store, which is the first building on the right you come to. Your tour guide will meet you in front of the store to start your tour.
Check-in:
Please make sure to arrive a few minutes before your tour is scheduled to begin. We allow for tours up to 20 people, if you need a larger personalized group tour, please call the ranch ahead of time and let's see what we can do.
What to expect
Your tour will start in front of the Alpaca store, we are a working ranch so we will go over some do's and don'ts. Your tour will take you through the Waterfowl exhibit and by our magazine celebrity "Petunia the Pig" on the way to the Alpacas. You will start in the maternity pasture of expected moms and cria (the rockstars of the ranch), then to the yearling section and then foundation females. From there you we will transition through the barn over to the Jr. Herd Sire and Champion Sires pastures.
Yes, you will be offering snacks to the little ones and adult Alpacas alike which will be provided to you by your host. It is not required that you feed the Alpacas however it is a nice peace offering\gesture, so they understand what you are doing in their pasture. :-)

If you are going to be late, please call the farm. If you arrive to your tour more than 45 minutes late your tour may have to be cancelled completely.
